Internet Routing Issue effecting DeWitt (update)

Internet Routing Issue
Added on Wed, Oct 29, 2008, at 07:41:02 PM
DeWitt has experienced issues, including the dreaded \\\"bad username or password\\\". Testing has determined that the problem is not at DeWitt or at the Little Rock end. There is some form of a routing issue on the Internet that is affecting a limited range of CenturyTel IP addresses. Of course DeWitt drew the short straw. There are work orders in with 3 (yes I spent a lot of time on the phone) different carriers trying to get this resolved.
Added on Thur, Oct 30, 2008
The problem stemmed from a CenturyTel equipment outage at Monroe, LA, which in turn had effects across the entire CenturyTel Internet network. Many CenturyTel operations (including the office group at DeWitt) were without the capability to access their own support systems.
It appears that our service in DeWitt was re-established around 5am on Thursday morning. Initial observation indicates that they may still need to do more work on our service, but at this time it is up and running.

Weekend Outages
Added on Mon, Jun 25, 2007, at 10:57:12 AM
It\'s been a LOOOONNNNGGGG weekend.
Termserver went down in DeWitt Friday night. The store where it is located didn\'t open until 10 am Saturday. As soon as I got back to Cabot from fixing it, power went out at our Cabot office. As soon as power was restored and I got everything back up there, our primary DNS server went down. (Turns out to be an electrical issue in Little Rock that is now resolved.) We changed all of the equipment to use the back up servers. At about the same time the telco had issues in Little Rock that knocked down all the DSL customers. As soon as that was resolved our primary authentication server went down (three times in all over the weekend). As of 10:30 am, Monday morning everything seems to be back up and running normally. We\'ll continue to monitor the situation, but so far everything seems to point to unrelated issues that all hit at about the same time.
Outages
Added on Sat, Jun 23, 2007, at 05:54:06 PM
Cabot is back up at around 5:30 pm. Now looks like a power outage in Stuttgart, no details on Stuttgart.
Outages
Added on Sat, Jun 23, 2007, at 03:22:05 PM
Overnight outage in DeWitt on Friday night. Equipment died and we couldn\'t replace it until after 10 am Saturday.
Somewhere around 1:30 pm a storm with lots of air to ground lightening moved through Cabot knocking out power to a large part of the southern section of Cabot. The power company expects to have power back around 4 pm. This outage affects much of Futura\'s network because remote locations are having difficulty authenticating. (Username and password check.) Although we have a back up authentication server in Little Rock for some reason some people are authenticating and some aren\'t.
Everything should be back to normal as soon as the electric company can restore power.
OUTAGE Sat. evening

Internet Routing Issues are easing
Added on Wed, Dec 20, 2006, at 02:54:15 PM
Around 2:30pm CST, the routing issues that were affecting certain segments of Futura were corrected. This most directly involved dialup customers in Stuttgart and England, our DSL customers, and those who were trying to access various websites that Futura hosts. Some customers may continue to have (individual) problems on the Internet in general. Please contact Futura Tech Support if you continue to have a specific outage.
Internet Wide Routing Issues
Added on Wed, Dec 20, 2006, at 01:02:49 PM
At this time there are issues on the internet that may stop or drastically effect your surfing/email abilities. At least one link on the internet is down (between Dallas and Little Rock) for SOME addresses. We have turned in a trouble ticket with Time-Warner on one of the links, but reports are showing up that it may actually be a widespread problem. These issues are beyond Futura\'s control and are internet-wide, not just Futura.

England Line Outage
Added on Thu, Nov 2, 2006, at 12:32:37 PM
The telephone company is experiencing some problems in England. We have a good rapport with the technicians who are working the issue and are getting updates but right now they do not know when full service will be restored. This means the number of available dial in lines in England is cut in half. We will update this as more information as it becomes available.

IF YOU HAVE A NEW COMPUTER!!!
Added on Tue, Dec 27, 2005, at 08:26:40 AM
If you have a new computer, it is critical that one of the first things you do is perform the windows update. It can be found by clicking on \"Tools\", \"Windows Update\" in Internet Explorer. Continue going back to the Windows Update site until it tells you there are no more updates to download.
It is also vital to make sure you update any antivirus program on the computer. Don\'t forget, there is a free antivirus program in the \"Downloads\" section of our support page.
Because they set on the shelves for a while before they get to you, new computers come with many security holes. To get the most enjoyment out of your new computer, it is vital you perform these updates as soon as you put it online.

England still having problems

Customers in the England area may experience problems connecting. We\'ve lost half of our incoming phone lines. The telephone company is working multiple issues in that area. They are still having issues between England and LR, although we aren\'t seeing our line drop out every 3 minutes like it was yesterday. The telephone company has some good people in the England area and they are working the issues as fast as they can.
